Destiny is set to receive a refer-a-friend feature, in the vein of fellow Activision Blizzard game World of Warcraft.

In the game's weekly update, Bungie said the feature is intended to "recognise and reward the Sherpas" among players.

Launching for the holiday season, it is aimed at players wanting to "show [friends] the way to the mountaintop," and will introduce "new rewards aimed at recognising your service to the Kinderguardian."

World of Warcraft's referral feature, "Recruit-a-Friend," rewards players for bringing others into the game, while granting bonus XP and linking new recruits with their recruiters.

Bungie has not detailed exactly how "Refer-a-Friend" will operate.

Meanwhile, Destiny will also see its November Update launch next week, which includes a new gear manager for its companion app, as well as changes to various merchants and the return of the Iron Banner.

In its recent earnings call, Activision Blizzard said Destiny had 25 million registered users.
