A new four-player co-op mode is coming to Titanfall, Respawn Entertainment has announced.

Frontier Defense is a wave survival-style affair, and will be playable on all 24 of the game's maps.

Players will battle new enemies, and current enemies will be given new behaviours.

“You and your team will face down familiar foes as well as the IMC's newest combat units: hordes of Grunts and Spectres, stealthy Sniper Spectres and Cloak Drones, explosive Suicide Spectres and Nuclear Titans, ranged Mortar Titans, and even melee-resistant Arc Titans!” said Respawn.

Stationary turrets can be deployed around the battlefield, and new Loadout Crates will allow players to switch loadouts at will, while refilling ammo and ordnance.

Frontier Defense will roll out as part of Update 8, which also features new achievements, new graphics quality settings on PC, and a host of other improvements and optimisations you can read about on the official site.

According to Respawn, Update 8 is the biggest update to the game yet.

Two more new modes are coming soon after the update.

Deadly Ground covers the floor in deadly electrified fog, forcing players to stay off the ground. It will be available in Hardpoint, Capture the Flag, and Marked For Death, and is scheduled to release on November 5.

Meanwhile, Marked for Death Pro adds rounds to Marked for Death, and is expected to launch on November 26.
