As we reported yesterday, EA boss John Schappert has promised something “far-reaching from Mass Effect” early next year.

It’s no secret that BioWare have set out Mass Effect as a trilogy, and this quick turn-around would corroborate the studio’s promise to that end.

Kotaku reports that this addition will be released within a window of January to March 2011.

In the meantime, two free pieces of Mass Effect 2 DLC have been released today. The first is the M22a Eviscerator shotgun, which has increased range amongst its benefits. The second is the Cerberus Assault armour, which boosts heavy weapon ammo capacity, shields and health by 10 percent.
