“It was with much sadness that we informed our teams today of changes to our Games organization, which include the closure of Junction Point Studios,” said a Disney spokesperson.

“These changes are part of our ongoing effort to address the fast-evolving gaming platforms and marketplace and to align resources against our key priorities.

“We’re extremely grateful to Warren Spector and the Junction Point team for their creative contributions to Disney with Disney Epic Mickey and Disney Epic Mickey 2.”

Spector and Art Min founded Junction Point in 2004, and the studio was acquired by Disney in 2007. It released Epic Mickey in 2010 and Epic Mickey 2 last year.

While the former was a critical success and sold more than two million copies worldwide, its sequel was met with lukewarm reviews and reportedly sold a mere 270,000 copies (edit: NPD Group puts this number at 529,000 for the US and Europe).

"Wondering what comes next?... Want to talk?" Spector wrote on his LinkedIn profile.
