Epic Games’ director of production is jumping ship to help get BioShock Infinite out the door.
Rod Fergusson confirmed his move to Irrational today via a Twitter post.
“Yes it's true, I'm leaving my family at Epic to join my new family at Irrational in Boston starting tomorrow,” he tweeted, adding “And yes I've played Infinite and it's amazing! Can't wait for you guys to get your hands on it.”
This follows news yesterday that two prominent Irrational staff had left the company.
In related news, it has been rumoured today that two multiplayer modes have been cut from BioShock Infinite.
Sources close to Kotaku stated that a tower defence-style mode wherein players fought enemy toys inside an old-timey arcade machine, as well as a Spec Ops-type mode where up to four players played campaign levels as a team, had both been axed.
According to the sources, an emphasis had been placed on multiplayer to curb trade-ins of the upcoming game.
It is unclear at this stage whether any multiplayer modes remain.
Irrational director Ken Levine has declined to comment directly, saying "We are experimenting with things, and only if they are good enough will we put them in the game".
He did say that people should not be concerned about the state of Infinite, however.
"It's always challenging when you're trying to make a game that does a lot of different things.
“When you are trying to innovate, the path is not always clear and these things take time. But I guarantee this: the next time we show you guys the game the judge will be you, not me.
"It is currently on track."
