Some Halo 4 details have been released via retailer-centric ExpertZone portal, including confirmation of new weapons and vehicles.

According to a slideshow on the site, the game will feature 10 new weapons, two new vehicles (“plus many of your favourites from the past”), and will launch with 10 multiplayer maps.

One slide also hints at the direction of the Halo 4 story.

“For the first time, the Master Chief will have a true nemesis,” it reads, later describing said nemesis as “an ancient enemy”.

“Halo 4 is going to be a darker, grittier game forcing the Master Chief to make some very difficult decisions,” it continues.

“The Master Chief’s long-time companion, Cortana, is starting to fall apart due to her artificial intelligence breaking down. Can the Master Chief still trust her?”

Light is also shed on Halo 4’s Spartan Ops – the game’s free weekly DLC missions that may be completed by a single player or in co-op mode.

According to ExpertZone, Spartan Ops will consist of five missions a week over a 10 week period, equating to a total play time of roughly 12 hours outside the main campaign.

Halo 4 is due for release on November 6.
