According to French language publication GamaLive, Sony’s new handheld, the PlayStation Vita, will be released in Japan and Hong Kong this November, and will reach Western markets in March 2012.

The publication cites what it claims is a source within Sony.

If true, the release schedule would match both Sony’s previous suggestions regarding a release schedule, and ensure that the Vita is released before Sony has to review the books at the end of the financial year.

Gameplanet tooled around with Vita at E3 and came away cautiously optimistic: "It’s heartening, to see that Sony appear to have learned from [the] mistakes [made with the PlayStation Portable] and sought to rectify them with their upcoming handheld, the PlayStation Vita."
