Rockstar has introduced a new, permanent Adversary mode to GTA Online today.

Seemingly inspired by the runaway success of car-sports game Rocket League, Running Back is based on elements of American football.

In Running Back, two teams of up to four players each face off at either end of a road, with all but one player driving BF Biftas.

One player, in a Benefactor Panto, attempts to drive across an end-zone line at the opposite end, while the opposing team must block their passage.

Three locations for Running Back are available: Raton Canyon Bridge, La Mesa Bridge, and Zancudo Tunnel.

Running Back is out today for new-gen console and PC versions of Grand Theft Auto V.
