Kiwi developer Grinding Gear Games has announced that its free-to-play online dungeon crawler, Path of Exile, will hold a public beta this weekend.

Previously the game has been restricted to a closed beta, accessible by invitation only. The purpose of this public beta is to stress test the game’s servers, based in the US.

The servers will be open to all from 5pm PDT on Friday, March 30th (1pm Saturday, March 31st NZT) and will return to closed beta 11.59pm PDT, Sunday April 1st (7.59pm, Monday, April 2nd NZT).

“We’re really looking forward to getting feedback from the wider gaming community,” says Chris Wilson, Grinding Gear Games’ co-founder. “We’ve arranged a number of interesting events for the public weekend, and we’re looking forward to meeting you in game.”

The details of those in-game events and more can be found on the public beta’s website.
