Concept art leaked out last week, but now it's official: Maxis is working on a new "rebooted" SimCity game.

Simply titled SimCity, it is set for release on PC and Mac in 2013 and will have a new, fully 3D simulation engine called GlassBox, multiplayer features and – at last – curvy roads.

Play will operate at multiple levels, from interacting with individual Sims – every Sim has a home and a job – to managing city level simulations including power, water, traffic, unemployment and taxes, to balancing multiple city simulations at once across a region by attracting Sims into your city, competing for precious resources and protecting your Sims against disasters.

Multiplayer will allow players to work together to build a region, with cities interacting cooperatively or against each other.
