Blizzard has confirmed that it is aiming to release StarCraft II this year. While this was widely expected, it is the first official mention of a release date since the RTS sequel was announced in 2007.
Lead designer Chris Sigaty made the announcement from Blizzard headquarters in California during a live interview with Swedish entertainment site Press2play.TV, at the world's largest LAN party, DreamHack, in Jönköping, Sweden.
Sigaty also revealed that the game's soundtrack will be performed by a full-scale orchestra, and discussed the single-player campaign and multiplayer gameplay.
