Bethesda has registered domain names that have brought some to believe Prey 2 will finally re-emerge at E3 2016. and have been purchased by the same company would-be publisher Bethesda used to buy domains for Doom and Dishonored, faintly indicating the firm's desire to either announce those games or to sit on the domains until it can.

Both domains redirect to a locked-out Facebook page for the time being.

Fan account Alien Noire also made an unsubstantiated tweet claiming that Prey 2 would be announced during E3.

Bethesda will host its own media event adjacent to E3 this year, suggesting that the company has several new games in the pipeline.

Prey 2 was announced in 2011 as a significant departure from its predecessor, featuring an open, alien-filled world and a freeform mission structure.

Original developer Human Head said it would bring together "the moving scheme from Mirror’s Edge, the freedom of Mass Effect and the fire fights of Killzone 2."

It was referred to as cancelled by Bethesda's Pete Hines in a 2014 interview, over a year after rumours of the project's move to Arkane Studios.

We will find out further details on Prey 2 (or not) at Bethesda's E3 presentation, 2am NZ time on June 13th.
