Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is getting a remaster, according to COD enthusiast site Charlie Intel.

The site first spotted mention of the remaster via Snapchat, where someone had posted a pre-order card for the Legacy Edition of what's rumoured to be this year's entry in the series, Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare.

According to the card, the game’s Legacy Edition “also includes Modern Warfare Remastered".

Charlie Intel was later sent a high-res image of the pre-order card, which you can here. Note at the bottom it says “Modern Warfare Remastered is full game digital download.”

If the remaster is actually happening, it seems likely it will come to Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and Windows PC.

Modern Warfare is regarded by many as the pinnacle of the series. It was the first game to move the series into the present day, and was a smash hit, selling approximately 16 million copies.

It was followed up in 2009 by the even more popular Modern Warfare 2, which was itself trumped sales-wise in 2011 by Modern Warfare 3.

Update: AllGamesDelta has just posted a screenshot of an Amazon listing for "Call of Duty Modern Warfare Trilogy".
