Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic is being unofficially remade in Unreal Engine 4 by an ambitious group of fans.

Dubbed Apeiron, the project aims to "remake and remaster" the BioWare RPG in the modern engine.

Core developer Poem Studios says it intends to add new content to the game as well, in the form of "new worlds, missions, HUD, inventory, items, and compainions."

It is intended for free release provided players own the original game, which may (but probably won't) comfort the legion of Disney's best lawyers likely to descend upon the team.

Due to the poor track record of game remakes actually being released, the team is not accepting donations; however, interested developers can sign up to help on the remake's website.
