EA has officially announced a February 23, 2016 release date for the long-awaited Mirror's Edge: Catalyst.

Unveiled at the publisher's E3 press event, the prequel tells the origin story of Faith, the first game's protagonist, and deeper explores the dystopian society in which she lives, runs, and fights for freedom.

Unlike the level-based first game, Catalyst takes place in a massive open city, its architecture offering a multitude of free-running opportunities and open-world activities.

As seen in the announce trailer, combat also returns, although hopefully with more polish and feedback than in the first game.
