The first final in the League of Legends Oceanic Players League takes place tomorrow night.
The two finalists are the Chiefs and the Dire Wolves. The Chiefs are at the top of the ladder with 13 wins, having dispatched their semi-final opponents, Team Immunity, 3-0. The Dire Wolves are a close second with 11 wins. They beat semi-finalists Legacy 3-1.
The Chiefs and the Dire Wolves will battle it out tomorrow at 8pm NZST in a best-of-five series. The winner will claim AU$16,000 in prize money, and go on to represent Oceania in the International Wild Card Invitational in Turkey later this month. There, they will compete against teams from Latin America, Russia, Japan, Brazil and the host nation.
The OPL launched in February this year. It is Australia and New Zealand's first professional eSports league. Eight teams have been competing for a share of AU$64,000, with each player in each team receiving a AU$100 match fee.
