Any reports that Blizzard will introduce microtransactions with Diablo III's next major patch are not quite correct, says the developer.

Patch 2.2.0 will come in two versions, said Diablo community manager Brandy ‘Nevalistis’ Camel. In Asian markets, 2.2.0 will offer customers a new currency called "Platinum", timed experience boosts, new cosmetic items, stash space and character slot expansions, and a new UI interface that references these additions.

These microstranactions will not be available elsewhere, said Camel.

"We recognise that many players have expressed an interest in microtransactions being added to Diablo III. While we may explore this model in some regions, we have no immediate plans to implement such purchases or the aforementioned features anytime soon for the Americas region."

While these features won't be appearing in the Western version of patch 2.2.0, Camel said players will still benefit from some of the quality of life perks tied to these additions, such as a streamlined UI for selecting cosmetic benefits like pets and Collector's Edition wings.

Patch 2.2.0 will add six new Legendary gear sets, one for each class. Blizzard is also overhauling the bonuses of some existing sets.

The patch will bring a new bounty type called Exploration. "As the name implies, these new bounties involve exploring an area and finding people who need to be rescued (if they're good guys) or slain (if they're not)," said Blizzard. "You'll see 14 bounties of this type across all Acts in the game."
