Riot Games has announced a new community event to be run on its ANZ League of Legends server from this Friday.

Over the course of Ocean Week, January 23 to January 31, players on the ANZ server will score points and unlock community goals by winning matches with any one of the 12 free rotation champions.

The ultimate goal is to unlock the ability to vote on a League of Legends Champion to be made into an artificial reef and sunk to the bottom of the ocean. The community will choose between Nautilus, Fizz, and Nami.

Any Summoner who contributes three or more points to the challenge will have his or her name engraved on the statue.

“We wanted to make something cool that players could contribute towards,” said Mirko Gozzo, country manager for Riot Games Oceania.

“We’ve been working with a marine biologist and an artificial reef company to make sure we create something that is good for the environment and means something to players.”
