Capcom has announced Resident Evil Revelations 2 during Sony's pre-TGS 2014 conference.
The same team that developed the first Revelations game is working on the sequel.
However, the plot links between the two games – if there are any – are not yet known.
Franchise stars Chris Redfield and Jill Valentine will not return, but will instead be replaced by new characters.
Revelations 2 will be playable at the Tokyo Games Show in a couple of weeks.
Images of the game’s concept art and Xbox 360 cover were leaked last month.
Revelations 2 is one of two Resident Evil titles currently in development. Capcom is also working on an HD remaster of the first Resident Evil on GameCube.
Resident Evil Revelations 2 is due out in early 2015 on Xbox 360, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, and Windows PC.
