The TESO Elite forums allow listings for the buying, selling, and trading of both goods and services within The Elder Scrolls Online.
To get the process started, players simply list an item; whether they want to sell it, trade it, or buy it; the platform and server they are playing on; and their in-game username. There is even a feedback system in place, so dishonest traders can be easily identified.
According to the site, mediators will be added in soon to help prevent scams, and those that attempt to fleece others will be banned from the forum and reported in-game.
Last spring, Zenimax said that The Elder Scrolls Online would not have an in-game auction house in order to protect the value of the game's most powerful gear.
"You don't necessarily want to do a global auction house for a game with one giant server because that generally leads to all the best gear being available at very, very cheap prices," gameplay designer Nick Konkle told Shoddy Cast.
"A lot of times that can trivialize the game. You cannot have a healthy economy when there are no restrictions on getting the best stuff in the game."
The Elder Scrolls Online launched earlier this month for Windows PC and Mac, with PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions set to launch in June.
