Telltale Games, developer of the award-winning The Walking Dead adventure games, has announced it is working on a series of Game of Thrones games.

The games will be based on the Game of Thrones television series, itself based on George R.R. Martin's fantasy novels.

The games were teased as “a brand new chapter” in the saga of Westeros, and Telltale CEO Dan Connors said his studio would focus on the characters who had the most at stake.

Gameplay will be similar to that in other Telltale titles, but will also feature large battles, Connors added.

Platforms are yet to be announced, but Telltale did say the first episode is expected sometime next year.

Rumours that Telltale was working on a Game of Thrones title surfaced last month, following Connors' admission that the developer was working on its “dream IP”.
