The reboot of Final Fantasy XIV will launch in summer, Square Enix has announced.

Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn will be the company’s second attempt at launching the Final Fantasy MMO, which first launched in 2010.

Square Enix has promised that A Realm Reborn will feature a new graphics engine, new server and data structures, a revamped interface, redesigned maps, more gameplay variations and content.

A third phase of closed beta testing will take place in June, at which time select PlayStation 3 owners will be able to play the game for the first time.

Testers will have access to a wealth of new content, including the city states of Ul’dah and Limsa Lominsa.

Those interested in beta testing the game can apply on the game’s official site.

Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn will be available on PlayStation 3 and Windows PC, and features cross-platform functionality.
