24 hours of StarCraft II: Heart of the Swarm launches kicked off in Melbourne, Australia's Federation Square on Monday night.
The Melbourne launch event included two special guests, Luke Mancini, an artist at Blizzard and an Australian expat, and Dustin Browder, the game director on StarCraft II. Over the course of the evening, Mancini completed a speed painting demonstration that can be seen below. Browder held a casual presentation of Heart of the Swarm and answered community questions in a developer Q&A.
The event, streamed live to global audiences, also featured exhibition matches by Australia's top professional players, including Andrew 'mOOnGLaDe' Pender and Jared 'PiG' Krensel, and MCing and shoutcasting by Leigh 'Maynarde' Mandalov.
Official estimates say the event was attended by approximately 3,000 Australian StarCraft fans.
