The game that was to be Brothers in Arms: Furious 4 is now a separate IP, Gearbox Software president Randy Pitchford has announced.

The game had “evolved and needed to be unshackled” from the Brothers in Arms brand, said Pitchford, adding that the developers had pushed the gameplay away from the core of the Brothers in Arms franchise.

The new IP will see an official announce an upcoming Gearbox community day Texas later this year.

Furious 4 was first revealed at Ubisoft's E3 2011 press conference, and was inspired by the real-life adventures of the Filthy Thirteen – a US demolitions team who specialised in behind-enemy-lines missions in World War II.
