Two League of Legends teams have been disqualified from Major League Gaming’s Summer Championship for collusion.

The teams, Curse NA and Team Dignitas, were battling it out for first and second place in the League of Legends tournament finals when a conspiracy between the two was uncovered.

As a result, MLG did not award a first or second place, and the associated prize money and Circuit Points went unclaimed.

“This is in clear violation of both the letter and spirit of MLG's Official Pro Circuit Conduct Rules: ‘competitors may not intentionally forfeit a game or conspire to manipulate rankings or brackets’," wrote MLG on its official website.

“As such, both teams have been disqualified, and no placements or prize money will be awarded.”

League of Legends developer Riot Games backed the decision.

All other results would stand, said MLG.

In the StarCraft 2: Wings of Liberty tournament, Leenock took out first place, netting US$25,000 (AU$24,100). OBS_EMP_REO bested all others in the PS3 Mortal Kombat tournament, and Xephukai won the Soul Calibur V competition.
