The release date for Torchlight II is being announced at PAX Prime on August 31, according to Runic games’ official blog.

The hack ‘n’ slash RPG was announced mid-2010 and at that time the release date was expected to be around May 2011.

It was then delayed until July 2011 due to some issues with the Xbox 360 port of its predecessor, and since then has been something of an unknown quantity.

In July of this year, Runic Games’ founder Travis Baldree took to the game’s forum to explain why it hadn’t been released yet, citing skill tree changes and other tweaks as reasons for the delay.

In the meantime, direct competitor Diablo III had been released.

Torchlight II’s release date will be posted on its
Facebook
and Twitter accounts, as well as on this very website.
