The latest Diablo III patch will introduce new gameplay elements to keep those who have reached level 60 interested, Blizzard has said.
The main addition is the Paragon system, a 100-level progression mechanic that sees core stats, magic find, and gold find boosted every time a new level is achieved.
Blizzard said it would take players about as long to earn the first Paragon level as it did to go from level 59 to 60, with requirements increasing from there.
To support the new system, Nephalem Valor would now also provide a 15% experience bonus per stack, applicable toward Paragon levels, said Blizzard.
It hoped that players not satisfied with the item hunt would find the Paragon system more rewarding.
“We know that a lot of you out there are level 60—maybe on multiple characters—and this system provides a way to make progress every time you log in to the game,” said Blizzard.
The patch will also introduce Legendary buffs, and improvements to the barbarian, demon hunter, monk, witch doctor, and wizard classes.
Patch 1.0.4 is expected at the end of the month.
