THQ and Raven Entertainment have announced a sequel to their 2006 hit, Company of Heroes.
Company of Heroes 2, slated for release on PC in 2013, will put players in charge of the Soviet Red Army and according to THQ’s website, will “introduce players to the harsh realities of war on the Eastern Front”.
The game is set in 1941, and follows Germany’s full-scale invasion the Soviet Union, which resulted in over 14 million military casualties.
Company of Heroes 2 will run on Relic Entertainment’s Essence 3.0 Engine, and a new system will mean unit visibility on the battlefield relies on true and proper line of sight, according to the official website.
“Company of Heroes 2 is a true successor, introducing a new front, new protagonists and new technology while retaining the unique mix of strategic gameplay and competitive multiplayer that made the original Company of Heroes such a success,” said Relic Entertainment Producer Greg Wilson.
