EVE Online and Dust developer CCP recently announced a restructuring and a slowdown on development, but the studio’s chief marketing officer, David Reid, has assured Rock, Paper, Shotgun that there’s still a full development team working on vampire MMO World of Darkness.

“Having rolled over here from Trion and NCsoft myself, the team on World of Darkness is the size of a AAA game team,” he said. “The company has not been shy about putting its resources there in parallel with Eve and Dust.”

CCP CEO Hilmar Pétursson added, “We have a kick-ass core team on World of Darkness already and it’s inspiring to see how much progress they’ve made, ever since we went through last year’s restructuring.”

These comments conflict with statements made last month by World of Darkness producer Chris McDonough, who said that while there’s a full development team on the game, the project has been put on the backburner.

Little has been revealed about World of Darkness. The MMO is based on the vampire pen and paper role-playing games of the same name. It is based in the same fictional world as the Vampire: The Masquerade games.
