Electronic Arts has announced record pre-orders for Battlefield 3 and Star Wars: The Old Republic in its quarterly financial earnings call today.

Battlefield 3 pre-orders are currently at 10 times those of Battlefield: Bad Company 2 at the same time prior to release, announced EA.

Games boss Frank Gibeau added that Battlefield 3 pre-orders are “significantly ahead” of those for last year’s Medal of Honor.

Highly anticipated MMO Star Wars: The Old Republic is the most pre-ordered game in the publisher’s history, higher than Battlefield 3, announced EA CEO John Riccitiello. EA is currently targeting a “holiday 2011” release, and a firmer release date will be provided in September, he added.

Star Wars: The Old Republic will be released at a later date in territories outside of the US and Europe.
