The dubious games industry practice of assigning awards to titles that haven’t been released yet has reared its head again today with the announcement of the “Game Critics Best of E3 2011” winners.

BioShock Infinite was the overall winner, winning Best of Show, Best PC Game, Best Action/Adventure Game and, somehow ignoring two other games in the franchise, Best Original Game.

Infinite was followed by Battlefield 3 and The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, each with two awards. Battlefield 3 took home Best Action Game and Best Online Multiplayer while Skyrim was awarded Best Role Playing Game and Best Console Game.
