CNN has reported today that Sony's profits for the third quarter of 2008 (ending December 31) fell from US$2.2 billion to US$110 million.

Game sales for PlayStation fell by 32% over the year, attributed by Sony to the global economic slowdown, increased competition and an appreciating yen.

Sony is expected to close out the year on March 31 with a loss of US$2.9 billion, or roughly the GDP of Swaziland. Thanks CNN.
