The festive season is well and truly upon us, and no doubt you're all hoping to find Santa's sleigh full to busting with the latest games and hardware tomorrow morning.
The team at Gameplanet would like to wish all of our loyal visitors, community members and contributors a very Merry Christmas and best wishes for the New Year!
We'd also like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has contributed to Gameplanet in 2008 - from the distributors and publishers who have worked long hours to bring you great (and sometimes not so great) games, to our team of writers and volunteers who have spent yet more hours giving them a good thrashing so they can tell our readers what to expect - we extend our thanks to you all.
Gameplanet has big plans for 2009, with major improvements to the site currently in the works. While the world economy has gone down the toilet recently and 2009 is looking bleak for some industries, gaming has always been a sector described as "recession proof" - people might have less disposable income, but (so the theory goes) that means they will spend it more wisely. And when it comes to entertainment, most games represent much better value than, say, going to the movies or hitting the town. So, things aren't looking so grim for gamers, and we're excited about what the new year will bring.
With that said, we'll be taking a short break over the holiday season to recharge our batteries and return in fighting form early January.
Have a great Christmas, happy holidays - and happy gaming!
Jon Valjean, Egor and all the team at Gameplanet
