Sony Computer Entertainment Europe has been recognised by the European Imaging and Sound Associationfor the first time, with the PlayStation 3 receiving the award for home entertainment.

EISA is the largest editorial multimedia organisation in Europe, with a membership of nearly 50 Audio, mobile electronics, video and photo magazines drawn from 19 countries. This year’s award winners were selected after the deliberations of a judging panel comprising journalists and independent technical experts and resulted in the home entertainment award going to PlayStation 3 for the very first time.

“To receive an EISA Award is a very high honour in the electronics industry and therefore to receive one for a product that is usually thought of as simply a games machine, truly highlights the versatility and quality of PS3,” said David Reeves, President, Sony Computer Entertainment Europe. “We firmly believe that PlayStation 3 has the capabilities to sit at the heart of the living room and very much belongs there. This award highlights that claim."
