IZ3D, a US-based 3D technology development and marketing company, will be showcasing its 22” widescreen monitors at the upcoming Summer 2007 CPL Championships from August 30th to September 2nd in Dallas, Texas, where participants will be able to immerse themselves in a true stereoscopic 3D gaming experience.
Stereoscopic 3D is a rapidly building trend in the gaming industry. IZ3D’s 22” monitor takes flat 2D games, and turns them into three-dimensional experiences by making characters and effects appear to blast into and out of the screen. This technology brings a level of game immersion not possible on a traditional monitor.
“When you see what our new 22” monitor can do, and how your gamers’ eyes will widen, you will be equally impressed by our product’s modest price,” said David Chechelashvilli, Vice President of Marketing for iZ3D LLC.
The new advanced video monitor displays 3D images with the help of comfortable passive polarised glasses. It is designed to completely replace traditional monitors by equally offering commercial image quality and display brightness for 2D non-gaming purposes. Push a button and switch instantaneously to 2D or back to 3D viewing.
Unlike some other stereoscopic 3D solutions, it is rare for players to experience eyestrain, spatial disorientation, headache, and nausea while using the monitor.
The unit is powered by any current personal computer with a dual output video card.
Specifications include 1680 x 1050 resolution, up to 120-degree viewing angle, 5ms response time, and 800:1 contrast ratio with the same brightness as commercial monitors. It also has dual interface capability with DVI and DVI/VGA inputs.
Monitors can be purchased via iz3d.com at a street price of US$1000. A new joint venture has formed with Chi Mei Optoelectronics, a Taiwanese-based TFT-LCD manufacturing company.
The newly formed company specialises in the design and engineering of advanced 3D visualization products, and specifically targets gaming and entertainment as its initial market. For more information, visit iz3d.com.
