IZ3D, a US-based 3D technology development and marketing company, is hosting a 3D gaming tournament at this weekend's QuakeCon 2007 in Texas.
The company is be participating in the new E-Sports Gaming Pavilion that hosts free mini-tournaments, shootouts, contests and product giveaways for games including Quake, Quake 4, Doom 3 and Fear. Participants will be able to immerse themselves in a true stereoscopic 3D gaming experience and be eligible to win an assortment of great prizes.
The new Gaming Pavilion will be showcasing the first mass produced iZ3D, LLC product, a 22” widescreen 3D monitor. The new advanced video monitor displays 3D images into and out of the screen with the help of polarized glasses. It is designed to completely replace traditional monitors with commercial image quality and display brightness for non-gaming purposes. At the push of a button the monitor converts to a normal 2D monitor.
Unlike previous stereoscopic 3D solutions, it is rare for players to experience eyestrain, spatial disorientation, headache, and nausea while using the IZ3D monitor.
The unit is powered by any current personal computer with a dual output video card.
Specifications include 1680 x 1050 resolution, up to 120-degree viewing angle, 5 ms response time, and 800:1 contrast ratio with the same brightness as commercial monitors. It also has dual interface capability with DVI and DVI/VGA inputs.
