Sony Computer Entertainment New Zealand and Sony BMG have announced a collaboration that will see Australasia as the first market to offer PlayStation Network registrants the opportunity to download free music videos from local music artists direct to their PS3 console.
This initially currently showcases 10 Australian artists and their music videos, where available, in high definition on the network, available for download free of charge. The database will continue to expand with a mixture of both developing and established artists, from both Australia and New Zealand, being added every fortnight. The first New Zealand artists will include Brooke Fraser and the Checks.
Michael Ephraim, Managing Director, Sony Computer Entertainment Australia and New Zealand, commented on the partnership: "This is the first local content contribution to the PlayStation Network and an insight into the potential of future offerings. In addition to downloadable games, movie trailers and networking opportunities, the inclusion of music content will further add to the credentials of the PlayStation 3 being the digital entertainment hub for your living room."
Denis Handlin AM, Chairman and CEO, Sony BMG Music Entertainment Australia and New Zealand, says: "Sony BMG is leading the way in how we engage the public with our artists via all new media possibilities. It's fantastic to be in the position where we are able to work with our colleagues at PlayStation and utilise the PlayStation Network as another avenue to showcase the incredible local talent that Sony BMG has worked hard to develop and nurture. We are extremely excited about this opportunity."
The first ten artists and music videos are:
- * Kate Miller-Heidke - Words

* Small Mercies - Innocent
* The Androids - Whole Lotta Love
* Pete Murray - So Beautiful
