Valve Software (creators of Half Life) have announced that development of their single player focused version of Counter-Strike has been taken over by Gearbox Software. Gearbox were the developers of the two official expansion packs for Half Life (Opposing Force and Blue Shift). According to Valve's press release key members of the Counter-Strike team will also be working on the project.

[indent]Counter-Strike: Condition Zero will add a single-player version to the popular Half-Life multiplayer mod Counter-Strike. It will feature a full single-player campaign that will let players play through once as a terrorist, and then play through again as a counterterrorist. The game will also feature a cooperative mode, 12 new weapons and items, and a number of new character models and multiplayer maps. In addition, the game will feature Valve's voice and spectator technology.
