Following the announcement that Ubisoft would be delaying several key releases, the company has now confirmed that the delayed titles will now release on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Xbox Scarlett.
Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot confirmed the news of cross-generation releases in a Q&A session following the company's 2020 financial year earnings call.
It was also confirmed that along with the three previously delayed titles, Watch Dogs Legion, Rainbow Six Quarantine, and Gods and Monsters, the company will also release two additional triple-A titles during the next fiscal year.
Guillemot stated “The five titles will be on this generation and next generation of consoles, and they will take full advantage of all the new features that are coming with the machines. Which are actually going to be extremely interesting for players, as you’ll be able to download new content a lot faster,”
While downloading new content faster sounds good, I do hope the company makes some notable improvements that take full advantage of the new hardware.
This does make me a little concerned that we'll see more of these incremental improvements and cross-gen releases with the next-gen systems instead of titles built from the ground-up to take advantage of the new hardware.
