Sony is finally bringing Insomniac Games into its fold of Worldwide Studios.
The publisher made the announcement today via Twitter:
Big news: @InsomniacGames is joining PlayStation’s Worldwide Studios! We are honored and thrilled to join forces with this legendary developer. Please join us in congratulating our friends and partners at Insomniac! pic.twitter.com/hhhqhxZE7k— PlayStation (@PlayStation) August 19, 2019
"Joining the WWS family gives Insomniac even greater opportunities to achieve our studio vision of making positive and lasting impressions on people's lives," said Insomniac founder and CEO Ted Price.
Insomniac's portfolio is packed with iconic PlayStation franchises, including Ratchet & Clank, Resistance, and Spyro the Dragon.
Not being a first-party studio however, has allowed Insomniac the freedom to work with other platforms, as it did with 2014's Sunset Overdrive on the Xbox One.
Most recently, the studio is known for the acclaimed Marvel's Spider-Man which has shipped more than 13 million units.
What this means for the rumoured Sunset Overdrive 2 remains to be seen, but it's likely we can expect another title featuring Marvel's wallcrawler in the future.
