Fans have been begging for a new entry in the Skate franchise for years now to no avail. Thankfully, Easy Day Studios has seen a glaring gap in gaming for a new skateboarding title. The studio today announced that Skater XL; a game that has been on Steam Early Access for some time now, is coming to the Xbox One in 2020.

Fans have only been able to shred up the L.A. Civic Center but will soon be able to take their favourite deck to a second location based on a Southern California skatepark.

Along with the Xbox release announcement, Easy Day also confirmed that character creation is also being added to the game. Being developed by a very small team, Skater XL may not have a wealth of content yet, but the framework for a solid skating sim is well in place.

The studio recently held a mo-cap session with Walker Ryan and is implementing some impressive photogrammetry technology to ensure the player character responds and moves as believably as possible.

I'm cautiously optimistic about this one and can't wait to see how the team can expand the title and hopefully turn it into a true Skate competitor.
