Following months of rumours and speculation, Nintendo has announced the Nintendo Switch Lite.

The Switch Lite is set to launch on September 20 for the suggested retail price of $359 and will be available in three different colours along with a limited edition Zacian & Zamazenta Pokemon themed variant.

This new smaller console will ditch several features found in the original Switch models, including the detachable Joy-Con controllers and ability to dock the handheld and play on a TV screen. Notably missing from the new model is the superb HD Rumble and motion control functionality, While it's a shame to see these features dropped, Nintendo is promising improved battery life and have also swapped out the horrible directional buttons for a tried-and-true D-pad.

Games that require motion controls can still be played, but gamers will need to purchase or have spare Joy-Cons or a Pro Controller on hand.

Intended for those who only want to play in handheld mode, the Switch Lite's screen measures in at 5.5" compared to the 6.2" screen on the original model. Check out the reveal video for the Nintendo Switch Lite below and let us know what you think in the comments!
