A new location-based mobile game is in the works, this time set in the world of Netflix's Stranger Things.

Details emerged today during the streaming company's E3 panel, where gameplay would see players "explore The Upside Down hidden around you and work together with other players to overcome its emerging evils."

Netflix director of interactive games, Chris Lee noted that the game would be integrated with Google Maps to offer a location-based experience.

Moving away from the 16-bit aesthetic of previous Stranger Things games, Lee added that the upcoming title would adopt an "80s Saturday morning cartoon" style.

The free-to-play title is being developed by Finnish studio Next Games (known for The Walking Dead: Our World) and will come to iOS and Android in 2020.

“Our core focus will be to deliver on Stranger Things’ rich and intense themes like friendship and supernatural adventure, and translate these into snack-sized entertainment on your mobile device,” said Next Games CEO Teemu Huuhtanen.
