It would seem that Hitman 2 has been both a critical and commercial success for IO Interactive as the developer today announced that it has opened a new studio in Malmö, Sweden.

IO Interactive CEO Hakan Abrak stated that "the new studio will strengthen IO Interactive’s commitment to deliver exceptional content to the HITMAN franchise, community and all our fans. Furthermore, this will expand our muscles for creating brand-new and exciting endeavours, new universes, new franchises. In other words, IOI Malmö and Copenhagen are one family”.

IOI, while well-known for the Hitman series, was also responsible for Kane & Lynch and one of my personal favourites Freedom Fighters so I'm hoping we see a sequel to one of these on top of any new IP's the studio is planning.

It's great to see the studio going from strength to strength following its 2017 split from publisher Square Enix which had many fans questioning whether or not the studio would recover.
