Update: Fox has clarified that Blackout is "a standalone game that shares Amanda Ripley as a main character but is not related to or a sequel of Isolation." We have amended our story to reflect this.

While Alien: Isolation was a celebrated survival horror for PC and Consoles, the next entry in the franchise will be coming to mobile platforms.

Alien: Blackout will be set between Alien and Aliens in the franchise's timeline, with Isolation's Amanda Ripley starring again as the main character.

In Blackout, Ripley is trapped aboard a crippled Weyland-Yutani space station, while being hunted by a deadly Xenomorph [stop me if you've heard this one before]

Publisher D3 Go paints a picture of players needing to "outsmart the perfect hunter by making perilous choices... Survive seven fear-inducing levels by remotely guiding Amanda Ripley’s crew through increasingly challenging tasks using only the station’s emergency systems.”

From that description, it sounds like Blackout will be less of a horror survival game from a first-person perspective, and more of a crew-management simulator with horror elements.

Alien: Blackout will be available on App Store, Google Play, and Amazon Appstore from January 24.
