Fallout 76 players rang in the New Year with a surprising level of peace and quiet, but that wasn't by design.

The ability to launch nuclear weapons was inadvertently broken this week, and while many assumed it was tying into the holiday spirit, Bethesda soon confirmed the bug, noting it was investigating the issue.

Nuclear codes reset each week, being dropped by different high-level enemies and are used to unlock missile silos. However, this week saw the codes spawn on the same enemies as last week, and were ineffective when it came to unlocking silos.

The developer has stated that a hotfix will release shortly.

The launch of Fallout 76 has been marred by a number of issues, including poor reviews and outrage over pre-order promises.

I guess this is what Bethesda meant when it told players to expect problems.
