While accepting the award for Best Role-Playing Game at the 2018 Game Awards, Monster Hunter World developers teased upcoming announcements for the game – and now we know just what they had up their sleeve.
A massive new expansion for the game, titled Iceborne is coming to consoles in Spring 2019 with new quests, monsters, gear, and areas.
The expansion will also continue the storyline from the main campaign.
In addition to announcing Iceborne, Capcom also revealed a collaboration with CD Projekt Red – the developers of The Witcher series.
The result of which will see Geralt of Rivia enter Monster Hunter World early next year as a playable character.
Geralt's original voice actors for respective regions will return, while the character will also offer "new quests with a unique flavor." Geralt's appearance will also see a " blending the RPG mechanics of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt with Monster Hunter: World's game systems to present a whole new gameplay experience to fans of both series."
From tomorrow, a free trial will be available on Xbox and PlayStation, with progress carrying over for those that choose to buy the game. The trial will be available until December 17.
