Microsoft's October update has arrived, and includes the return of Avatars.

Previously a part of the Xbox 360 interface, the feature returns with an updated design and an Avatar Editor offering a wide range of body types.

For those that want to go old-school, Xbox Original Avatars are also supported – including all of that Avatars existing content.

Avatars will appear on a player's profile, as well as on the Home screen, Gamerscore leaderboards, club headers and more.

Clothing and accessories for a player's Avatar can be purchased on the Avatar Store and will be updated monthly with licensed designs from Halo, Gears of War and more.

In addition to Avatars, the October update also includes voice support for Alexa and Cortana. Using one of these AI devices, players can turn their console on and off, launch games, and capture screenshots.
