Gearbox Software has announced Borderlands 2 VR – a unique single-player experience for the PlayStation VR.
In a post on the PlayStation Blog, Gearbox producer Brian Burleson noted "we didn’t just cram Borderlands into a headset and call it a day – we did copious research into how VR plays best to update the experience so you can now fully sink your eyes into the wild and mayhem-filled world of Pandora."
The game will offer new VR-specific mechanics and skills, including a new "bullet-time" ability. Called "BAMF Time" (BadAss Mega Fun Time), the new ability will give players the "speed and reflexes of a rabid skag", allowing them to dodge bullets, "pull off 360 no-scope headshots," or combine with Action Skills for even more powerful attacks.
The four original vault hunters from Borderlands 2 will be available to play, with upgraded skill trees to incorporate the new BAMF ability.
While a lack of multiplayer is disappointing, having any excuse to dive back into Borderlands is enough for me. Here's hoping this is more playable than that terrible Vita port.
Borderlands 2 VR releases for PSVR on December 14.
