Hot on the heels of the Monster Hunter movie announcement, Capcom have now confirmed that a live-action Mega Man movie is scheduled for production.

The directors of Paranormal Activity 3 and Paranormal Activity 4, Henry Joost and Ariel Schulman are set to write and direct with 20th Century Fox on board for distribution.

In a Capcom press release, the company stated that their aim is "to appeal to a diverse audience, including not only game players but action movie fans as well, with an adaptation that maintains the world of the Mega Man games, while incorporating the grand production and entertainment value that Hollywood movies are known for."

If the incredible quality of the previous Resident Evil and Dead Rising movies are anything to go by, we could be witness to the first movie based on a game to receive an Oscar nomination. The Mega Man story is so rich and has a wealth of deep characters perfect for the big-screen treatment. My money is on Haley Joel Osment, donning the blue suit and helmet in the titular role.

Are you as keen for a Mega Man movie as I am? Who do you think they should cast in it? Let me know in the comments below!
